  • 01 Team Lead

    Job Type: Part-time, with potential to grow into full-time

    Pay: $21.00–$25.00 per hour Location: Highland Park, Los Angeles, CA 90042 (in person)

    Schedule: Flexible — opening or closing shifts

    About the role: Highland House Play Cafe is hiring a Shift Lead to help run daily operations, uphold our standards, and lead our team with the same hospitality we promise our guests: "we got you."

    Responsibilities:

    • Open/close the space

    • Supervise staff during shifts and ensure SOPs are followed for safety, cleaning, and service

    • Enforce opening/closing checklists and daily operational standards

    • Spot-check play area safety protocols (sanitizing, ratios, incident reporting)

    • Train new hires on POS, cafe procedures, and play area protocols

    • Handle customer issues that front-line staff can't resolve

    • Track inventory and communicate supply needs; light vendor pickup

    • Communicate scheduling gaps (call-outs, coverage) to ownership

    • Step in wherever needed — cafe, play area, or parties

    • Serve as the go-to point of contact when the owner isn't on-site

    Requirements:

    • Prior food service, retail, or childcare leadership experience

    • Trustworthy, self-directed, calm under pressure

    • Available to grow into more hours as we scale

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

  • 02 Play/Cafe Attendant

    Job Type: Part-time

    Pay: $18.50–$20.00 per hour

    Location: Highland Park, Los Angeles, CA 90042 (in person) Schedule: Part-time, includes weekends

    About the role: Join the founding team at Highland House Play Cafe! We're looking for a Cafe & Play Attendant who brings genuine hospitality to every guest — running our counter and keeping our play area safe, clean, and full of joy for kids ages 0–6.

    Responsibilities:

    • Run the counter — coffee, light food, POS

    • Supervise the play area and check in guests (ages 0–6), keeping it safe, clean, and fun

    • Sanitize toys and surfaces between sessions

    • Sales on memberships and classes

    • Deliver "we got you" hospitality — be the warm, welcoming face parents come back for

    Requirements:

    • Comfortable with young kids in a group setting

    • Reliable, punctual, great with parents

    • Food handler's card (or willing to obtain one — we'll help)

    • CPR/First Aid certification a plus (or willing to get certified)

    • Prior cafe, retail, or childcare experience a plus, not required

    • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
